Student Representatives

GABA Student Representatives are student members (i.e., they reside in Georgia and are currently completing coursework related to Applied Behavior Analysis) who are nominated by their peers to represent the student voice in GABA activities. Student Representatives play an essential role in supporting student engagement with GABA. They help ensure that student members feel connected, informed, and actively involved in the organization. By serving as liaisons between students and GABA leadership, representatives amplify student voices and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive professional community.

What do Student Representatives do?

Throughout the year, Student Representatives support initiatives that strengthen student involvement and contribute to the success of the annual GABA Conference. Their responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Attending monthly meetings with GABA VPs of Student Affairs

  • Working closely with the VPs of Student Affairs to ensure students feel seen, heard, valued, and supported by GABA

  • Promoting the annual GABA conference and other events through social media and campus outreach

  • Assisting with student-focused conference activities

  • Shadowing or collaborating with GABA committees

At the annual conference, Student Representatives take on active leadership roles in collaboration with GABA Board members. They help run the conference store, introduce speakers, assist with CEU check-in and check-out, support registration, and help with event set-up and logistics. Through these responsibilities, Representatives gain meaningful leadership experience while contributing directly to the success of the conference.

How do I become a Student Representative?

Annual nominations for Student Representative positions are typically accepted in February each year, with selected Representatives beginning their term in early March. Nominations are announced to GABA members via email, as well as on GABA’s social media accounts. Student members may nominate themselves or another student member. Students are selected based on several factors, including their involvement in GABA (past attendance at GABA events), as well as their interests and experiences in the field of ABA
